I used Filezilla server software as my FTP server. In Windows 7 and 8, you need to change the Windows Firewall setting to make it work.

Step 1: Open Windows Firewall settings, select “Advanced settings”.

Step 2: New an “Inbound Rules”.

20130103002

Select Rule Type as “Program”.

Pick the Filezilla server.exe file you installed.

Allow the connection.

Depends on your requirement, check the Domain, Private and Public boxes.

Give it a name and press “Finish”.

After that, you should be able to see the rule you just created listed in “Inbound Rules”. Make sure it is “Allow”.

After that, try to connect your FTP server. Enjoy.
