When you have multiple languages selected in your Windows 8 system (for my case, I have English and Chinese). You should be able to see a language bar in the system notification region that allow you to select from different keyboard input languages.
But sometimes, for some reason that it disappeared or if it appeared but the input method switch does not work. Here is how you could restore the language bar functionality in two simple steps.
Step 1: Enable Registry Key
Run “regedit” in your command line window and navigate to this directory
1 |
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run |
Check for a string parameter named “CTFMon”. If it exists, ensure that its path is set to “C:\Windows\system32\ctfmon.exe”.
Step 2: Reboot your computer
After the reboot, you should be able to see the familiar language bar.
